Sorin My Son

I wish I could find the words to describe what it's like to see Sorin growing up. Sure, he's only 7 months old - he hasn't talked, walked, or even rolled over. But as any parents know he changes so fast in his facial features and his actions.

I have two favorite moments in the day right now:
  1. When Sorin starts to wake up around 7am, I like to be the first in to his room. He's just opened his eyes and he's completely rested but still a little sleepy. But when he sees me he is very excited and has a great smile. It's the best way to start a day.
  2. We just moved Sorin to a front-facing car seat. Let me tell you - it makes him look so much older to be sitting in a big-boy chair. I never got to see his face in the rear-facing. And actually I originally had his front-facing behind me, so I had to turn around to see him. Now he's back-right --- perfect viewing for dad!
Katie is still busy perfecting her picture-taking abilities. Check out some of the great shots she got today.

funny mommy

i WISH i could take credit for being this funny - but alas I cannot... what happened was Sorin coughed while he was sitting on my lap and I coughed back, which apparently was the funniest thing that he has heard in quite some time, he laughed so hard that he got the hiccups... here is a little clip:

Little Jumper

Here is Sorin getting full use of his jumper...  he is a very rambunctious child.  I took this video after he had already been jumping and smiling at me for a 1/2 hour, and as I am uploading this video he is still jumping.  (how's that for real time blogging?)  And - I swear - he is jumping 'in time' with the music : )

7 months

Sorin is 7 months now and it feels like we are constantly pulling things out of his mouth.  He is most content when he is chewing on something.  And the things he loves to chew on are not, of course, nice, bright, baby, water-filled, plastic chew toys, he wants the things he shouldn't really have whether it is one of his cardboard books:
or a blanket:
or (his favorite right now) a wet paper towel:
or the remote:
Or one of our cell phones, or his lotion bottle, or my contact case, or a flashlight, or a notebook, and on and on and on - you get the picture.

And when you take it away...

Curious George

Little Sorin is very curious.  He MUST touch and feel and put into his mouth anything that is within reach.  And if it is not within reach he stretches and leans and yelps in hopes that the thing will soon be within his grasp.  I try to accommodate him whenever possible (if the thing will not put him in danger or poison him) so that he can experience new and different things. The other day when the object of his desire was the television I had to just take him out of the room : ).
Here he is after he was done eating today, very curious about the glass dish his cereal and peas were fed to him out of.  I was a little nervous that he was going to chip one of his two brand new teeth so I held on but here he is taking a taste...
